Hello! We are students from the bilingual program at Kaohsiung Jhengsing Junior High School, Taiwan. There are 30 students in our bilingual program, including ten boys and twenty girls. Our average age is twelve years old. We are interested in learning languages, and in the program we have more English classes and Chinese classes than other students. In our English lessons, we learn grammar, writing skills, and practice listening and speaking. As for Chinese, we learn Chinese calligraphy, oral presentation skills, writing, and reading. Those lessons are very amazing and cool, so everyone likes to be a member of this bilingual program. We are glad to join the UBOD. Though it is a new learning challenge, maybe difficult, we will try our best!

Group A 

 

My name is Jheng-wei. I am twelve years old. My hobby is playing basketball.

 

My name is Yu-Hsuan. I have big eyes. I am not very tall. My favorite food is chocolate. My favorite animals are bears. I like to go out with friends after I finish my homework.

 

I am Cheng-you. I am 12-years old. I have big brown eyes and I like to read read and read, especially novels. I also like to listen to music.  

 

My name is Yi-cheng. I am twelve years old. I like to play video games and read comic books. I like eat pasta. It is yummy. I don't like taro.

 

My name is Pei-rong. I'm 12-years old. My hobbies are reading novels and chatting with my friends.

 

My name is Pei-Yu. My hobby is reading books. My favorite food is strawberry. I love it very much!

 

I'm Ling Yen. I'm 13-years old this year. My hobbies are playing the clarinet, reading novels, listening music and traveling. I have long hair and also I'm very slim and tall. I love to eat chocolate, ice-cream and bubble tea.

 

My name is Zih-ting. I enjoy eating. I love to eat Oyster omelet and banana. I am not very tall and I think I am thin. I like to read book when I am bored.

 

My name is Chia-yin. I have big eyes. My hobbies are playing the piano and drawing and reading. My favorite sport is jumping rope.

 

My name is Yun-syuan. I like basketball. My favorite subject is PE. I like a book, Hunger Game. It is great! My favorite food is noodles. My hobby is playing puzzle.

 

I am Kai-li. I am short and have black eyes. I love to read novels, play the piano, and shop with friends. I really enjoy eating. My favorite food is Italian pasta and hamburgers. I hate sports, especially jumping rope and playing basketball.

 

My name is Wen -han. I am a boy. I love baseball. My favorite food is fried chicken. And my favorite drink is soda.

 

My name is Shu-ling. My hobbies are reading and shopping. I have curly hair. I can play the piano and drum. I do not like math and science.

 

My name is ze-jiung. I am an outgoing boy. I like to play baseball. I like math  in school. I usually play basketball in my free time.

 

My name is Ting Tsai. I am a outgoing boy. My favorite sport is playing basketball. I like PE. My favorite food is fried chicken.

Group B

My name is Wan-chen. I like to play baseball. I also like to play basketball, too. My favorite food is ice cream. My favorite subject is PE.

 

My name is Zih-yun. I am short and thin. My hobby is playing the piano. I always do it in my free time. My favorite subject is music.

 

My name is Ruei-ci. My hobby is playing basketball. I always do this after school. My favorite subjects are Chinese and PE class. My most annoying subjects are geography and history. I like to go travel on vacation.

 

My name is Yi-Sian. I am thirteen years old. I am an outgoing girl. My favorite colors are blue and white. I like to read books in my free time.

 

My name is Joanna. My favorite singer is Justin Bieber. I enjoy eating. I like to eat steak. It is so delicious!

 

My name is Zhi-ti Huang. I usually read book in my free time. I like to watch TV with my family, too. My favorite food is ice cream. My favorite subject is biology. I don't like geography very much.

 

My name is Erin. I have brown eyes and brown hair. I love animals because I have a dog named "Happy." And I like sport, too. I like Relay and Dodgeball. I'm a super "warriors" fen, so I have a warrior name, too. You can call me "spottedclaw".

 

My name is Yu Fuh. I like to read and play sports. My favorite sport is tennis, even though I can't play it very well. I like to read novels in my free time. It is really relaxing for me.

 

My name is Jong Yuan. I like to read, play with animals and go shopping. I like to eat French fries. My favorite book is Harry Potter. And my lucky number is 25.

 

My name is Kaien. I like to read. My favorite subject is Chinese. I don't like math. I want to get a cellphone.

 

My name is Yi-fang. I have dark long hair. I like to read books, draw pictures and listen to music. My favorite subject is Chinese. My favorite food is potato.

 

My name is Jun Han. I like to watch TV, play computer and read books. My hobbies are playing table tennis and playing the piano. My favorite sport is table tennis.

 

My name is Allen. I'm tall and thin. My hobbies are playing ping-pong and listening to the music. I was the ping-pong team leader of my elementary school. My favorite subjects are math and chemistry, and my favorite food is fish and sausage.

 

My name is Hsiao-Man. I am very tall. I like to reading books. My favorite food is ice cream. My favorite subject is science.

 

My name is Yu-Chiao. I like to eat apples. I like to swim. I like to play table tennis, too. I also like to listen to music and read books.

Taiwan

 

 

Taiwan, shaped like a sweet potato, is a small island. It is located on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean, across the Taiwan Strait from China. Taiwan’s area is 360,000 square kilometers, and Taiwan’s population is 23000 million with diverse ethnic groups, including descendants of immigrants from China and Taiwanese indigenous people.

 

Maybe Taiwan is not as big as other countries, but the small island is full of friendly Taiwanese people and unique culture. Please listen to our national anthem.

Kaohsiung

 

Our hometown, Kaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan. It is a harbor city with beautiful ocean and mountains. Life in Kaohsiung is very convenient. The MRT system connects different parts of Kaohsiung. The largest MRT station, Formosa Boulevard Station, has a beautiful famous dome with 4,500 glass panels, which is the largest glass work in the world. 

 

 

 

Night markets are special places in Kaohsiung. There are many delicious foods in night markets, like stinky tofu, oyster omelet, rice dumpling, Taiwanese rice sausage, Taiwanese meatball, coffin bread, pearl milk tea, etc. Night markets are food paradises. It is the best place to enjoy local food. In addition to food, there are also fun games, like shooting balloons, pin balls, ring toss games, etc. 

 

Kaohsiung is a city full of love. We have Love River and True Love Harbor. Taking a Love River boat tour is a good way to enjoy Kaohsiung’s beautiful scenery.

Moon Festival

 

There are many festivals in Taiwan and just on September 30, an important traditional festival –Moon Festival is coming. Let me introduce it to you.

Moon Festival is on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, so it is on a different date every year. On this day the full moon is very big and beautiful. We get together with family members, watch the moon, eat moon cakes and pamelos, and have a BBQ. There are several legends about the festival. It is said that a beautiful woman called Chang-Er, whose husband was a brutal emperor, stole her husband’s magic medicine. She took the medicine and flew to the moon. She has lived there with rabbits for thousands of years. Now a typhoon is near Taiwan. We hope to have the good weather on Sunday; then we can enjoy the moon and the BBQ!
